In recent years, downtown Bellingham has seen many changes. And in many cases, Daylight Properties has been a big part of them. From historic building restorations, to working with non-profit companies to ehance the vitatity of the area, Daylight has had direct impact on many of the places Bellinghamsters hold dear. 


The company recently lent both its real estate and checkbook to help several organizations with various projects, which in turn have had a positive effect on downtown and beyond.

Three longtime buildings are getting major makeovers in downtown Bellingham and that means more places to eat and live. 


The former Michael's Books building, Bellingham National Bank Building and the smaller former JC Penny building are in various stages of remodeling early in the new year. 


It's the continutation of the many changes that have taken place in the district in recent years, said Bob Hall of Daylight Properties....

It's not uncommmon for many renters to move frequently, depending upon both life circumstances and their level of satisfaction with a rental space. Some renters of Daylight Properties-owned apartments, however, have settled into more long-term occupancy, remaining in their units for years or even decades. 


Daylight has always valued its current tenants and helps those tenants who might want to transfer to different apartments at the end of their leases.

Bob Hall is considered by many to be the father of modern-day downtown Bellingham, and for good reason. He's perhaps the most influential figure in helping pump life back into an area that was 40 percent vacant in the 1980s. 


Today, only two building are vacant downtown, says Hall, a developer who owns 25 historical properties in Bellingham. He estimates he owns about 15 to 20 percent of the entire downtown - a list that includes the Herald, Daylight and PIckett buildings.
